About Us
Judy Van Wyk, CID President
John Fernandez-Salvador, Vice President
Judy worked initially in hospitality design with James Northcutt Associates completing the Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel and Checkers Hotel LA, among other prestigious hotel projects. She then moved to the entertaimnent field, first with the Walt Disney Company in Paris, then Universal Studios in Japan, Los Angeles and Spain. Since founding the Design Studio in 1998, her design work has expanded to include fine restaurants, popular retailers, million dollar residencies and meaningful civic projects.
John worked with the Berkus Group Architects specializing in custom residential design and then with Jeffrey M. Kalban Associates Architecture, Inc. branching out to institutional commercial and master planning projects before starting his own firm in 1990. John has been a guest critic at the USC School of Architecture. His work has been featured in the New York Times and Metropolitan Home Magazine and has received the SFV AIA Chapter Design Award. John joined the Design Studio in 2000.
